Dogsbite.org – No Professional Advice

I call BS!

Somewhat puzzling but typical of Dogsbite founder Colleen Lynn on the sites first page in the “about us” section they clearly claim to be the world’s leading source for information and data based on their own research.

As you can see they seem to be quite political and obviously involved in lobbying which is strictly forbidden by “not of profit” organizations specifically encouraging people to contact their political representatives & supplying “form letters” etc etc.

From Dogsbite…..

“DogsBite.org advocates on behalf of dog mauling victims and their families to advance preventative policies through amicus brief filings and by providing testimony and high quality research analysis and results at city, county and state-level legislative hearings. We also advocate by sharing state-of-the art knowledge and best practices we’ve documented in other jurisdictions with other advocates, organizations or initiatives that operate under a similar mission as our own.

Dog breeders, dog owners, veterinarian and animal welfare organizations have lobbyists in all 50 states. Victims of serious and fatal dog maulings, families and friends, health and public safety officials and the concerned public need advocates too. We advocate for you.

We champion the rights of victims through our research, education and advocacy. Our statistical data has been cited in a peer-reviewed scientific journal and well over a hundred reports from local, regional and national newspapers. Our advocacy helped move the highest court in Maryland to issue the seminal ruling, Tracey v. Solesky, declaring “pit bulls inherently dangerous” and to modify state liability law to ensure a compensation remedy for pit bull mauling victims.1

Our extensive research base of over 2,200 web pages enables new nonprofits and foundations with a similar mission to get organized more quickly — prior to DogsBite.org, no research base had been established. Our extensive research base also plants seeds in all 50 states and in countries as far away as Australia.”

But then in their extensive “disclaimer” section they admit to having no “professional”‘ expertise at all and advise people to seek actual professional advice in an extensive post equivalent to two A4 pages full of legal speak for “we take no responsibility whatsoever for what we say and/or do”…..

The fact is the only people getting any benefit from donations to Dogsbite.org and DF’s are the site owners and the Lynn Media group as neither organization has any legitimate dog bite victims initiatives and as previously stated both seem heavily involved in lobbying and seem quite political.

By their own admission on the home page of the flagship anti pit bull website in the last decade 128 people have died in attacks involving “non pit bull type” dogs, now lets put that into perspective one person each month every month  has died as a result of an attack involving a “non pit bull type” dog in the last decade!

Breed specific legislation targets pit bull type dogs and as such does absolutely nothing to inhibit attacks and/or fatalities involving “non pit bull type” dogs meaning leaving Bsl in place all but ensures another 128 victims to “non pit bull type” dogs in the coming decade too.

Don’t all victims deserve a voice? Do the families of “non pit bull type” dogs grieve any less then the families of pit bull victims?

Breed neutral legislation focuses on all dogs and all owners and is a voice for all victims.

more to come…..
